RIVEL® antiseptic gel

Composition:
1 g of preparation contains 5 mg of active ingredient - ethacridine lactate, and auxiliary substances.

Indications:
- disinfection of the skin and mucous membranes;
- disinfection of superficial skin damages (scratches, lacerations, abrasions),
- disinfection of wounds, furunculi, abscesses, mixed – bacterial and mycotic – skin inflammations;
- on insect bites.

Action:
Rivel® constitutes a handy gelous form of rivanol. The preparation is mainly used in the treatment of skin inflammations and wounds. Not only does ethacridine lactate act on the skin surface, but it rapidly and deeply penetrates into surrounding tissues as well, where it acts antiseptically and preventing pathogenic factors from entering the wound. As a result, reddening and swelling cease, the sensation of heat and pain as well as the inflammation are diminished, and the wound is healed more promptly. The preparation is non-irritant to the skin and mucous membranes.

Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to ethacridine lactate, other acridine derivatives, or to any excipient of the gel.

Special warnings:
- avoid contact of gel with eyes;
- do not administer to large areas of broken skin;
- in children under 2 years of age, and at pregnancy and lactation the drug may be administered only under physician’s supervision;
- in case of skin reddening and skin irritation, the use of drug should be stopped until all symptoms cease;
- avoid contact with clothing (possibility of staining).

Method of administration:
Apply an even layer to the treated area of the skin or mucous membrane 2 to 3 times daily
(or more often if required). The gel may be also used in the form of occlusive dressings.

Adverse events:
Rivel® is usually tolerated well. In rare cases, local transient skin irritation may be observed.

Storage:
The drug should be stored in an original, tightly closed package at room temperature
(15 and 250C). Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
